Solo Cello Berlin 1912 -1932 by Lode Vercampt
Lode Vercampt will be improvising on the cello amidst the artworks in the exhibition.
Lode Vercampt was 9 years old when he won the ‘Jeunes Talents’ Award. He studied cello at the Ghent Conservatory and now divides his time between concerts and theater.
He played and composed for many theatrical productions including Muziektheater Lod, Villanella, Kunstencentrum Vooruit, Beursschouwburg, Het Paleis, etc. The different representations of these productions brought him to the United States, Japan, Europe and Taiwan.
He worked as a freelance for Il Novecento, de Vlaamse Opera, I Fiamminghi and Prima la Musica.
He also performed with Gorki, Jo Lemaire, Johan Verminnen and Dirk Blanchard.
Divided between classical music and improvisation, he currently plays with several formations in Belgium and abroad, including Kris Defoort, Wim Mertens, Osama Abdulrasol Quintet.
His brilliant classical training does not prevent him from thinking outside the box, on the contrary. And that's what makes his style so eclectic. Lode Vercampt seeks to go beyond the limits of his instrument and reveals, like a magician, new colours and emotions.
