Poetic tattoo sessions, slam-poetry, guided tours, poetic and music performances, workshops, live graphic sessions, comic strip drawing studio… A creative and instructive afternoon, sensitive to the skin, about lines, words and history, in the middle of the exhibitions The Murder of Marat and Christian Dotremont, painter-writer.

In the context of the exhibitions The Murder of Marat and Christian Dotremont, Painter-Writer, the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium, in collaboration with the Midis de la poésie, organize a series of thematic activities around the expressiveness of words and the graphic freedom of poetry writing.

With (tattooed) writers Lisette Lombé and Mel Moya, artists Jean-Luc Moerman and PAROLE, tattoo artist Laura Peters, poet and street musician Geert Viaene, students of 75 (ESA) and Arno Vanheule (KUL).

What role do words play in David's Murder of Marat? Are pen and ink formidable weapons? Can history be described and rewritten? What can be seen under the skin of this masterpiece? How do contemporary artists deal with this painting?

WORKSHOP COMIC STRIP DRAWING > continuous
And what if history had turned out slightly differently? Take on the role of characters Charlotte Corday and Jean-Paul Marat. Imagine their last words during this episode of the French Revolution by filling in the speech bubbles of a comic strip developed especially for the expo by Arno Vanheule (KUL). This activity is free with the entrance ticket to the exhibition. 

TATTOOSTORY 
For the first time at the Museum, tattoo artist Laura Peters will offer you a real tattoo session in the Bernheim room opposite Robert (Bob) Wilson's video installation, The Death of Marat, embodied by Lady Gaga. A historic moment!

Performance SLAM-POETRY (FR) - 14:00 - 16€ / 12€ / 8€ RESERVATION

The ticket gives you access to some activities that are organised as part of the Special Day Dotremont: wall painting, tattoo-sessions & workshop. If you want to visit the Dotremont exhibition, you will be asked to pay a supplement of €5 on site.
