On 24/11, inspired by the theme of sketches, the RMFAB's Mediation department is taking over all the museums to create a festive occasion around the Drafts exhibition, in collaboration with Patrimoine à roulettes, Les Midis de la Poésieand the Royal Academy of Fine Arts. 

The programme includes a special day during which the public will be invited to parade, observe and create. Drawing tours, portrait prints, sketches of all kinds, poetic performances, textile design... Sketching takes on all its forms, including the most surprising!

Workshops for 'crunching' and 'being crunched'

 

Take the Pose ! In partnership with Patrimoine à roulettes, an association specialising in the production of participatory artistic projects and the creation of events, workshops and educational tools. As part of Special Day, Patrimoine à roulettes will be taking over the RMFAB Forum. Members of the public will be invited to try their hand at sketching from a variety of angles, with some... zany instructions!

Exhibition by students of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels (ARBA) 

 

A place of teaching, research, creation and production where generations of artists are forged, ARBA offers training in sculpture, drawing, painting, illustration, engraving, textile design, tapestry and urban space. 

As part of Special Day, students on the Textile Design course are invited to showcase the "sketch" dimension of their practice (works, models, prototypes, preparatory research, sampling, sketchbooks, etc.). Inspired by the work of the artists featured in the Drafts exhibition, they will work with their teachers to create textiles. The creations, models and prototypes resulting from this mini-residency will be exhibited. Visitors will be able to get a feel for the more contemporary side of sketch-based work.

Musical and artistic performance by Nina de Angelis - Music by Castus

 

Les Midis de la Poésie has been offering literary lectures and performance readings for 76 years. They work closely with a number of cultural institutions, including the RMFAB, and take a variety of forms to bring together poetry, theatre and readings. As part of Special Day, the Midis de la Poésie are preparing a musical and artistic performance, in particular with an artist who lends herself particularly well to the theme of the sketch: Nina de Angelis, who regularly works around the idea of the "creative gesture". 

 

 
This performance will be accompanied by Cédric Castus: Brussels-based guitarist Cédric Castus is renowned for his solo performances and original compositions, a sort of muscular and colourful postcard of sound, under the name CASTUS. An expert in loop stations, he creates arrangements for five guitars and navigates between undulating pop and cautious experimental rock.
