Art x Gender (EN) Matrimony Days
Guided tour with Jean-Philippe Theyskens
As part of the Matrimony days, the Education and public engagement department invites you to discover the Art x Gender project. This project offers a fresh perspective on the collections of the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium (RMFAB). The works in the permanent display, together with a dedicated presentation in room 66, critically examine gender stereotypes throughout the centuries. For this occasion, we are also highlighting several women artists who have often remained less visible within our matrimony, bringing their work further into the spotlight.
The Museum's mission is not only to conserve works of art, but also to carry out research and provide information for the public. Their collections trace the history of the plastic arts - painting, sculpture and drawing - from the 15th to the 21st century. The “Gender” federal research project, led by Audrey Lasserre, is designed to encourage reflection on the issues and representations of “gender” (social sexes and sexualities) in art and the museum.
