Art on Paper and the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium are joining forces
Published on 17.09.2024
For its 9th edition, Art on Paper and the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium are joining forces to organise a talk on the theme of ‘Museums and Works on Paper’.
Curators from Belgian and international institutions will be discussing the issues they share in relation to the paper medium, whose fragility means that it must be exhibited in accordance with well-defined rules. They will also discuss their acquisition policies, with purchases and donations/ legacies from private collections creating a body of work that is often very dense.
Conversation will also focus on each institution's own digitilisation policies, which enable these often invisible works to be shared with as many people as possible.
These themes will be addressed in relation to ancient, modern and contemporary art, thanks to a varied panel of curators:
- Inga Rossi-Schrimpf, Director Collection and Research at Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium, Brussels.
- Stefan Huygebaert, Curator Mu.ZEE - Permekemuseum, Ostend - Jabbeke
- Pascal Neveux, Director of Frac-Picardie, Reims
- Julien Foucart, Director of the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Tournai, Tournai
- Leïla Jarbouai, Chief Curator Musée d'Orsay, Paris
- Joris Van Grieken, Curator of Prints and Drawings, Royal Library of Belgium, Brussels
Mediation
Virginie Devillez, Senior Advisor Fair ‘Art on Paper’ - Fine Art Expert, & Sabine Taevernier, Fine Art Expert & Advisor to public and private collections.
