ProvEnhance : Publication of the "first check"
Published on 18.12.2025
This Wednesday, the RMFAB hosted an international workshop on the Belgian legislative framework for the restitution of works of art acquired around the Second World War.
At the same time, the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium (RMFAB) are publishing a dataset on the provenance of works of art in their collection, developed as part of the ProvEnhance project.
Following a preliminary assessment of 591 works of art acquired between 1933 and 1960 that form part of the project corpus, this dataset defines priorities for in-depth provenance research and highlights areas requiring further investigation.
It brings together existing provenance data on the works of art and thus serves as a starting point for retracing the history of the objects and promoting provenance research at the RMFAB and beyond.
