The crowdfunding campaign raised €16,260!

THANKS TO YOUR INCREDIBLE GENEROSITY, KBR AND THE ROYAL MUSEUMS OF FINE ARTS OF BELGIUM HAVE EXCEEDED THEIR TARGET OF 15,000 EUROS FOR THE RESTORATION OF ENSOR'S ROUSSEAU ALBUM.

THANK YOU!

Together, we would like to express our deepest gratitude to all those who took part in this fundraising campaign. Our warmest thanks go to Maison Hannon, which chose to donate the profits from its anniversary weekend on 1 June. A fine gesture of solidarity with cultural projects run by other players!

SECOND LIFE

Thanks to your donations, the album of drawings and letters illustrated by James Ensor in 1883, compiled by his close friend Mariette Rousseau, will be given a second life. It had been deteriorating rapidly due to the acidity of the paper, the fragility of the silk leaves and the wear and tear of the binding.

KBR AND MRBAB: WORKING TOGETHER FOR CONSERVATION

KBR, in collaboration with the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium , is carrying out this essential restoration. Your financial support will enable a specialist restorer to carry out this complex project, which includes :

  • Treating the interleaved paper: re-attaching, repairing, flattening and creating a barrier against acid migration
  • Consolidation of the binding and re-attachment of the signatures
  • Full documentation of the treatments carried out

Thank you again for your generosity and commitment to preserving our cultural heritage. We look forward to sharing the progress of this exciting project with you!
