<summary type="html"><![CDATA[A key figure in contemporary Belgian sculpture, Tapta, born Maria Wierusz Kowalski (1926–1997), is today receiving the renewed recognition she deserves. Originally trained in textile arts, the Belgian artist of Polish origin began to develop her sculptural practice from the 1980s onwards, using neoprene, a synthetic rubber.
